Creating a Shared Language for Brave Space Building™️
Language is a component of society that can be used to build up or tear down. It can bring together a people or divide a nation. It can be used to heal or wield as a weapon. Language is powerful.
For those very reasons, we put a strong focus on being intentional about the language individuals should use within what we refer to as a “Brave Space.” We help participants develop a shared language through which they can develop a deeper understanding amongst themselves and communicate more effectively. This applies to anywhere that language is used, be it spoken or in text.
The key to creating language that bridges gaps and fosters community is to first be mindful of your language. Take note of any words that you may be using that are potential triggers to others. Even if your intent is far from harm, the effect of your words could be damaging to professional relationships which is why developing a shared language is an ongoing process that requires intention and time.
