The troubling truths about black women in the workplace is a topic one can not ignore. After speaking to about 100 black women, I learned there were some alarming consistencies. I wanted to shine a light on what I learned....
"There is a common misconception that equity and equality mean the same thing — and that they can be used interchangeably, especially when talking about education. But the truth is they do not — and cannot."
“..institutions commonly and unconsciously assume POC [People of Color] who are invited into the institution should not only be grateful but should also want to be like the white people who invited them.”
“Change culture and you change lives. You can also change the course of history...When strategy competes with culture, culture wins every time. This is one of the reasons why the most brilliant anti-white supremacy strategies in the world have failed to dislodge white-body supremacy from our culture...But we can never belong to a strategy. We can never belong to a movement, either, though we can be part of it. We can only belong to a culture.”
