Let’s Take It Moment By Moment: Self Care for Election Day and Beyond

“Self-care is one of the active ways that I love myself. When you can and as you can, in ways that feel loving, make time and space for yourself”

– Tracee Ellis Ross

Election day is here.  The energy in the air is ripe with anxiety, tension, and uncertainty.  It is easy to get swept up in it and lose sight of your well being.  Breath.  Take today and beyond moment by moment.

Focus On Your Senses.
Here are some ways to practice self care today and beyond.

Gather your favorite foods.  Prepare or grab your favorite meal and snacks.  Think about them throughout the day to subside anxiousness.

Prepare a listing of videos or podcasts that bring you joy and laughter.  According to recent research laughter really is good medicine. It reduces stress by releasing specific hormones that boost your immune system and rewire your brain.  So, have go-to funny videos or podcasts feeling stressed or anxious.

Snuggle up with your favorite blanket or put on your favorite outfit.  Put on your favorite outfit or snuggle with your favorite blanket.  These may provide a feeling of safety or being held to fight against anxiety.

Center on sweet or pleasant smells.  A smell can transport you in time to a pleasant place or event.  Spray your favorite fragrance or air freshener to release tension.  Burn your favorite candle or incense to transform your space.

Do what you can with what you have.  And, as much as possible, focus on your pace.
We send you love, light and healing.
