Did you know that research has demonstrated that Black boys have graduated from school at higher rates, and are more likely to enroll in college when they’re influenced by Black Male Educators (BMEs)?
Through BMEsTalk, CBV is unapologetically affirming Black men in education and their lived experiences through racial affinity spaces designed to engage and cultivate the WHOLE Black Man. In these spaces, created specifically and uniquely for the Black Male Educator, we offer:
- Affinity
- Leadership Development
- Career Pathways & Opportunities
BMEsTalk was founded to ensure that Black Male Educators have a professional learning community and leadership tools that inspire them to continue positively impacting the lives of all students, particularly Black boys, in schools.
BMEsTalk is committed to creating and curating spaces that support Black Male Educators with discovering, exploring, and examining the following competencies:
- Commitment to leading with authenticity at work based on the understanding that racial equity work is personal.
- Ability to communicate one’s personal narrative clearly so that others understand who you are, not who the world thinks you are
- Know culturally responsive and sustaining facilitation tools/practices to support learning experiences where participants take full ownership in their learning
- Recognize the need for consistently engaging in practices of self-care and personal growth through regular participation in an affinity-based professional community of educators
BMEsTalk is starting conversations in schools that will:
- Address issues Black male educators face daily both personally and professionally.
- Strengthen Black male educators and remind them of their purpose.
- Establish professional relationships with other Black educators and strengthen those with non-BIPOC colleagues.
